The Western Delta University started academic work with two Colleges in August 2007. The colleges were those of management and Social Science, and Natural and Applied Science..

The basis of both mission and vision seemed to be an intense desire to define and entrench a philosophy of education, not only in line with the overall philosophy of education, but also in line with the avowed objectives of the Western Delta University, as particularized in the motto of the University "Knowledge for Human advancement".
