The Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State, Nigeria, approved by the Federal Government on 2nd May, 2007 and granted a License by the National Universities Commission on 7th May, 2007, opened its doors to academic activities on March 29th, 2008.

ACCESSIBILITY OF THE UNIVERSITY
The University is located on the strategic Benin-Warri highway. Oghara Town, near Sapele, lies on the bank of the marvelous Ethiope River, Africa’s most tourism friendly warterway. The University environment is nourished by luxuriant tropical vegetation, tranquil crystal waters, and exotic wetland biodiversity. It is an ideal environment where the genius of students and scholars will flourish to enrich global technology and civilzation.

The vision of the University is to serve as a first-rate insititution where staff and students pursue excellence towards producing men and women with intllectual, professional and cultural empowerment and who can apply their knowledge to the resolution of national and global challenges with a deep sense of social responsibilty.

MISSION OF THE UNIVERSITY
The mission of the University is to contribute to the development of its immediate environment, the nation and the world by promoting the idea of the University as a humane community of thinkers, scientists, and inventors. By virtue of its location in the Niger Delta, the University will critically engage the special features of the resources. The University will train graduates who will go into the world and hoist Nigeria’s flag of excellence, ingenuity and resourcefullness.
